The Minnesota CPCU Scholarship Foundation became a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational foundation in 2002.
The Scholarship Fund was formed by the Minnesota Chapter of the CPCU Society in 1995. Robert Slaughter, CPCU, became the first chariman of the Scholarship Committee. Robert had just begun the fund raising process when he died suddenly from a heart attack. As a result, many memorials were donated in honor of Robert's commitment to diversity and education. The scholarship fund received enough money to get off to an excellent start.
Make A Difference
By offering scholarships we help others to have the opportunity to learn about the professions of insurance and risk management. This benefits the individual scholarship recipient, our society and our industry. As CPCUs it is a chance for us to help others on the way up in their careers; just like we were helped by other professionals who were generous with their time and talent.
2009 will be the eighth year that awards have been given. Most of our scholarships have been matched by the CPCU’s Loman Foundation.
Additional fund raising is needed to sustain the fund. Please consider making a contribution.
Scholarship Applicants Needed!
The Minnesota Chapter of CPCU Scholarship Foundation will be selecting the recipients of our Educational Scholarships including the Robert Slaughter CPCU Memorial Scholarship in the spring.
We need applicants to select from. Application received by May 2009, will be eligible for next year’s award, but we prefer that applicants not wait until the last minute. You can help by passing our application on to persons who will be college students next year. We want to give to students that will have some type of a Minnesota connection, who will be students in insurance and risk management (such as safety, risk control, claim management) or related fields.
